Rob Rose 1990 Nissan Skyline GTS-T
Introducing his 1990 Nissan Skyline GTS-T Type M. This car was originally built in Japan and shipped overseas to Florida in 2015. In the first quarter of 2024, while browsing an online marketplace, Rose contacted its owner at the time, who was located in South Carolina.
Rose grew up in a car-friendly family, with his father raising him around domestic classics, muscle cars, and hot rods. He built a passion for cars as a child. Rose’s father unfortunately passed away recently, which compelled Rose to chase his dream of owning the infamous Nissan Skyline. Prior to purchasing the JDM legend, Rose had owned a Nissan 300ZX. At this time, Rose had been searching for a Skyline for a long time. Having sold his 300ZX and with extra money from the sale, he chose to reignite the flame and started searching for a Skyline once again. He found the online listing in South Carolina and messaged the owner. Rose had never bought a car without a thorough inspection or seeing it in person, but due to the distance between the buyer and seller, he chose to trust the seller.
“From the second I saw it, I had to have it. I made it happen within a week of contacting the owner,” Rose stated in his written documentation of how he came to own it.
He was left with decisions to make and the conflict of ensuring he was getting “the right car for the right deal.” The seller was transparent, open to answering questions, and had no intent of misleading Rose. Once the purchase was finalized, the car arrived in Ohio in April under a new passionate and now fulfilled owner.
However, this car is more than its owner or its heritage. Under the hood is a Nissan RB20DET with a Z32 MAF, pushing it up to 400 wheel HP. It’s boosted with a Garrett GT2863 turbo, added with 550cc injectors, an AEM 340 fuel pump, Spitfire coil packs, and an impressive custom full 3” exhaust/downpipes. This motor is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and an Exedy Pro clutch kit that sends power to the rear wheels. The shoes on this tuner beast are ESR 18x8.5 +35mm in the front and ESR 18x9.5 +35mm in the rear for a mean staggered setup that's dropped on Godspeed coilovers and supported by adjustable control arms and tension rods.
Besides the beefy guts of this monster, its cosmetics are equally impressive. It is painted in Bayside Blue TV2, tinted to 20%, and sports loads of beautifully coated real carbon fiber. It’s assisted by a carbon fiber duckbill, trunk spoiler, roof wing, and rear spats. Carbon aside, the body of this car is built up with Nissan GTR Type M side skirts, GTR front bumper, grille, and hood lip. The interior has Recaro bucket seats, a custom-painted shift knob by 2 Brothers Autogroup, and an authentic Nardi steering wheel attached to a Sparco quick release.
But a build is never finished, and Rose has fantastic plans for this one-of-a-kind build in the future. This winter season, he plans on swapping in an RB26DETT motor, then having his friends at Two Brothers Autogroup give it a custom, mesmerizing, pearlescent paint scheme “and make it a show stopper,” stated Rose.
