Jordan Constantine 1992 Toyota Supra Turbo

Brought to you today is a 1992 Toyota Supra Turbo, originally owned by an individual in San Diego, California. Constantine was on a mission to replace his first car, the same year, make, and model, which was unfortunately wrecked the year prior. Due to his father working away, he got lucky and found a single-owner, automatic Supra with its original 7MGTE engine. After making the purchase, he drove it all the way back home, stopping at the Grand Canyon in Arizona in the name of adventure. Being a teenager at the time, Constantine worked to the best of his abilities to learn and grow with the car, doing minor modifications along the way, namely intake, exhaust, and boost controllers. Eventually, it came time for him to take on a big challenge. Constantine had built up more power than the transmission could handle. Thus, with jack stands on all four corners, he did a 5-speed manual swap in his '92 Toyota Supra.

He stated, “[it] was my first big project I ever did, small now in hindsight. But it was a massive accomplishment for me at the time,” in written documentation of the car's history and his ownership. With his manual swap complete and the car on the road, he drove it and enjoyed it for a few more years until his 7MGTE motor was “worn out and tired,” he claimed. A friend of Constantine’s forwarded him an online marketplace listing for a Toyota 2JZ inline 6. This was an incredibly lucky find, as he got an amazing deal on it at the time. Especially now in June of 2024, and for many years recently, the infamous 2JZ is rare and expensive to buy. Constantine closed his remarks with, “Ever since then, it's been pretty much just building it slowly over the years.”

So, what’s this monster got under the hood? Packed with an authentic JDM Aristo 2JZ-GTE VVT-I 6-cylinder that’s tuned to 541 wheel HP and 451 ft-lb of torque, his top speed reached a staggering 177 miles-per-hour. It’s rear-wheel drive and, as stated prior, has had a transmission swap from an automatic to a 5-speed. How does a motor get so strong? This 2JZ has a surplus of modifications inside and out, including but not limited to Wiseco pistons, Eagle rods, and high-quality ARP hardware throughout the entire motor. On the top end of the motor, Constantine installed Crower springs and retainers, HKS headgasket, exhaust camshaft, camshaft gear and timing belt, and ARP 625CA head studs. Extras include a Treadstone exhaust manifold which is working closely with an On3 61mm turbo and CXracing intercooler. That’s far from all. Also listed are a Derale dual pass oil cooler, three-row aluminum radiator with Spal fan, Driftmotion oil pump, Allstar Performance catch can, Fluidampr pulley, ACT clutch, Evolution Industries flywheel connected to an R154 transmission built with Marlin Crawler internals, a Shaftmasters one-piece aluminum driveshaft, and a Weir built Torsen T2 rear end. The brakes were also upgraded from the factory MK3 Supra brakes to handle all that power. Installed are Mercedes S500 Brembo calipers and Nissan 350z touring brake rotors. Bear with me… all the bushings on the car are either solid or polyurethane and the steering rack is a Ford Mustang II manual steering rack. The car is lowered on Eibach springs and KYB struts. Constantine states, “There's lots more I'm either forgetting or that isn't worth mentioning,” which is absolutely absurd. It is also sporting some custom fabrication with a custom-fabricated exhaust, front subframe and steering, and reinforced rear subframe.

Moving onto the cosmetics of the car, it’s painted a glamorous Toyota 8J3 metallic blue. The shoes on this build are Advan Model5 18x8 silver. The cabin of this rocket is complemented with a Cube short throw shifter, Momo Devil 350mm wheel, and old school Momo bucket seats. Its aesthetic is accentuated with HKS boot, mats, and horn button, and a one-of-one fabricated Jack Daniel’s Whiskey shift knob. To assist the driver and car connection, there are Autometer gauges, AEM wideband, and Lotek pillar gauge pods.

It’s clear Constantine has a certain passion for this car, and it’s emphasized in his future plans for the car. “Just enjoy it,” states Constantine.

Jordan would like to thank his friend Conrad, for being his mentor and for all the work he also put into the car. Which without, his dream would never have been possible.
