Richie Fisher 1993 Toyota Supra RZ

This 1993 Toyota Supra RZ was manufactured in the Motomachi plant in Toyota City, Japan. Fisher did a fantastic job describing the history of this car in his own words: “This black aero top MK4 Toyota Supra RZ lived its life for over 20 years within the confines of Japan, near its birthplace in the Aichi Prefecture. In 2014, she started her journey overseas after being put up for sale at the USS Nagoya auction.”

It was January 2022 when Fisher and his father discovered the Farm and Dairy auction in a local newspaper. This auction was based near Youngstown, Ohio. It was a bankruptcy auction with other basic vehicles. This was the first time Fisher had seen in person and been so close to a car he admired so much. After placing small bids, the auction eventually grew and gained more public interest. By the end of the auction, Fisher was the proud owner of a 4th generation Toyota Supra RZ. It was a lot of firsts for Fisher, especially driving a car with the steering wheel on the right side. Unfortunately, the troubles were yet to pass, as it was snowing that day. So, this is how Fisher found himself driving a RHD, RWD, twin-turbo vehicle in the snow. Thankfully, these cars built a reputation for their astounding handling, and the Supra took the 45-minute drive without any troubles.

Beneath the steel of this expert chassis is a 2JZ-GTE inline-6 engine pumping out a modest 321 WHP and a 4.7-second 0-60 time. This automatic transmission is powering the rear wheels. The 2JZ is getting extra air thanks to a HKS Super Power Flow intake, and the whole structure is held together with a GReddy strut tower brace.

The makeup on this car is Toyota’s 202 basecoat black, with 20% tint giving a sleek look to the rear windows. This car came with a factory-optioned active aero front splitter that activates over 60 mph (~100km/h). The car-to-road connection is held through Circuit Performance CP21 wheels that are 18x9.5 +20mm. It’s lowered on HKS Hipermax III coilovers. Its acoustics are also modest thanks to the HKS HiPower silent exhaust. Inside the car, you’re welcomed with Recaro bucket seats, and a Momo race steering wheel with a Works Bell quick release setup.

It’s up to the driver of the car to decide if they want to preserve their investment or enjoy the money they spend. Fisher has chosen the latter, and as of July 16, 2024, the car has crossed 100,000 KM, which equates to just under 63,000 miles with no end on the horizon. And on the topic of the future? Fisher has plans to do a 6-speed manual transmission swap and go from a twin-turbo setup down to a single turbo. His goals are to keep it as a tasteful street build and to “keep this car as pure as it can be to its JDM roots,” he closed with.
