Alex Krusinski 1993 Mitsubishi Evolution II RS

This is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution II RS. Unlike many cars imported straight from Japan, this one came from just north of the continental United States. This car was imported to the U.S. from Quebec, Canada. Though it did roll off a Japanese production line, it was in Canada that the car received its current GM white paint job. The owner at the time, who is unknown, made some small modifications to the car. From there, in 2008, the next owner did much of the current work on the vehicle. Once Krusinski got a hold of the car around a year ago, he did some work on the interior and drivetrain.

But cars like this don't just fall into their passionate owners' hands for no reason. Krusinski had been on the hunt for an EVO III because “...it was one of my favorite cars in Initial D.” He was on an online used goods platform and saw the car on a local listing. Krusinski stated that he felt “extremely compelled to own it and really experience what it would be like to own a 30-year-old JDM legend.” He has spent much of his time owning the car, maintaining it, and making quality modifications.

Under the airflow-friendly hood of this sedan is a Mitsubishi Sirius 4G63 engine putting out 350 WHP to all four wheels. Stability is no issue in this car; the manual transmission has an ACT lightweight flywheel and an ACT 6-puck clutch. It helps send this power with Torque Solutions driveshaft support bushings. The engine has stock internals but comes with an FP 68HTA turbocharger and an FP turbo manifold. The Link 4GX ECU was tuned by Redline Tuning and has custom intake and intercooler piping. The conversion was done to an EVO X intercooler with exhaust tones coming from the 2.5” custom exhaust and Borla muffler. It has a Turbosmart blow-off valve and Buschur Racing coil-on-plug system. Lastly, there is an aluminum radiator, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Injector Dynamics ID1050 injectors, and a 3-port AEM boost solenoid. It has plenty of suspension support thanks to ARP Sport rear and front strut braces and full polyurethane bushings. A SuperPro suspension kit has been installed, which couples well with the Hardrace adjustable camber arms and BC Racing coilovers. Extra quality was introduced with Hardrace adjustable toe arms and aftermarket rear control arms. The stopping power on this monster is unquestioned thanks to the EVO VIII Brembo brake kit in the front and rear, and the braided brake lines.

Cosmetically, this car is just as impressive! The brake and suspension components have all been powder coated for extra longevity and durability. Inside the car are seats from an EVO IV, a MOMO Jet steering wheel, Fatboy Racing billet shift knob, and a custom gauge cluster in the dashboard. The driver and car communication is enhanced thanks to the VEI boost gauge and AEM air-fuel ratio gauge. It’s been upgraded to have power steering and a push-button start system. The battery has conveniently been relocated to the trunk. Krusinski can even play his favorite songs thanks to the upgraded Kenwood speakers and amplifier. Now moving outside of the cabin. This 4-door is sitting on Enkei RPF-1 17x8 silver wheels with Azenis tires mounted. It has an EVO III style body, rear spoiler, and lip spoiler. Detail was considered when the blacked-out lights on all four corners were installed, and it even comes with LED turn indicators and LED license plate lights.

This car has had an exciting life and will continue to do so. Recently, it went on a “...3,000-mile road trip going from Ohio to VA, taking the Blue Ridge Parkway to GA, then back to Ohio.” Thankfully, there is future thought put into this so-close-to-perfect build! Krusinski would like to get a new transmission and transfer case, an LED underglow kit, and upgrade some internals. Hopefully, an intercooler upgrade and a fuel pump, as he wants to run E85. Cosmetically, it’s on the table to have the car resprayed in Riptide Blue or Habanero Orange Metallic. But we will simply have to wait to see what comes of this car!
