Brandon Thomas 1989 Nissan 240sx
This late 80’s masterpiece is a 1989 Nissan 240SX that was manufactured in the U.S. but still sports an iconic Nissan badge. Though, it’s not Thomas’s first S chassis. Thomas first rode in a college friend's S13 that had an SR-swapped motor. From there, he bought his first gray S13 in 2011. Thomas was weighing the pros and cons of many motor swap options, but ultimately landed on the RB25 Nissan motor. He purchased his RB25 and waited eagerly for it to arrive. Once it did, it took just over half a year to get it running. He put the built RB25 engine into his gray 240SX fastback. Thomas drove with that motor stock for around two and a half years before he decided to pull the RB25 out and start building it. During that process, Thomas’s friend in Kentucky had a red 240SX fastback that we see featured now. The red 240 came with a Nissan RB20 motor. While the RB25 was being built and the gray 240 was down, he took the RB20 out of the red 240 and continued to drive the first 240SX with the RB20 engine. Once the RB25 build was completed, he put the RB25 into the second red 240SX after borrowing some of the good parts from the first one. He then sold the gray 240SX. Following? Thomas has owned this S chassis for 8 years at the time of writing.
With that out of the way, this S13 has a built RB25DET motor which came stock in the Skyline R33 Type-M and GTS-4, as well as the Skyline R34 25GT-T. It boasts 500 WHP, 350 foot-pounds of torque, and is tuned with a Link ECU model G4X. This power is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. It has custom fabricated and welded intercooler piping and a full 4-inch straight pipe exhaust done by KSR Performance in North Royalton, OH.
Impressive internals aren't complete without impressive externals either. It has a self-done custom two-tone paint job in Viper Red and Ultimate Jet Black. The glass is tinted to 20% thanks to Royalty Tint in Beachwood, OH. The body is fitted with 180SX Type X side skirts and rear, and a Pignose front bumper and front lip. The shoes on this car are 17x9 +15mm Square G8 wheels fitted with 245/40r17 Firestone Indy 500 Firehawks. The cabin of this ship features an OEM interior with a custom Grip Royal Wood Grain wheel. It has an upgraded sound system with a head unit and speaker setup. For driver support, Thomas installed an Innovate MTXL wideband O² gauge, and an AEM oil pressure and water temp gauge.
This sleek car combines tasteful mods with crazy performance and custom fabrication. Thomas has realistic and exciting plans for the future of this car as well. Thomas wants to go back and tune his ECU for more power and to race it!
